Seed
You can't choose what happens to you, but you can choose - to some extent - how you react to it.
Thus, if you find yourself stuck in a situation where you don't want to be, remember this Seed: focus on extracting at least one constructive element from this experience. Since you're already there and there's nothing you can do about it, why not make the most of it?
When it comes to past events, it's easy to forget or overlook what we've learned. And it is especially true when such situations leave us with a sour memory.
This strategy can help you find added value in any negative former experience. And you might be able to convert such memories into something beneficial.
But be wary of toxic positivity. I'm not suggesting that you disregard the harmful sides of your experiences. It is critical to honestly acknowledge all aspects of the situation. Both positive and negative.
Also, avoid the trap of sarcasm. For this exercise to be beneficial, you need to truly believe in the value you're extracting.
Be honest with yourself, and keep an open mind. Discover the gem that you will use to improve your life, even if it’s the smallest thing.
Example
My puppy sh*t on the carpet. Yes, it’s a pain to clean it up. But now I know what signs she gives me when she needs to go. Therefore I know what to look after in the future. #Zigzag
Reflect
What was your most recent negative experience, and what added value can you extract from it?
Bonus
You can also use this Seed for positive events. It’s a good habit to be mindful when living something positive and take time to acknowledge that it’s a good moment.
